Past Gardens
A wonderful start to our Territory 2019 season. Fabulous rural garden featuring an inspiring combination of native, productive and exotic plants, along with winding pathways, ponds and spacious deck from which to enjoy some delicious refreshments while admiring the peaceful outlook.
10:00 AM to 4:00 PMA magical country garden with a large 45-year old oasis rainforest, complete with a majestic banyan (Ficus virens) and many exotic palms and cycads, sits in the centre of a flower and mangoesteen hobby farm. A wide variety of heliconias and gingers, along with many fruit trees, offers plenty of space for visiting children to explore. Two water features add to the ambiance and create a welcome place to sit and relax.
10:00 AM to 4:00 PMThree separate gardens open on Mothers Day weekend. One in the delightful Batchelor township, and two enjoying rural views and spacious gardens on the township fringes. The Batchelor Markets will be held on Sunday from 8am to 1pm on the Batchelor Oval in conjunction with a Sports Expo sponsored by Coomalie Community Government Council.
10:00 AM to 4:00 PMPractically an orchard growing citrus and tropical fruit trees, this garden has been beautifully and thoughtfully landscaped over 16 years. NT natives fill in the gaps and reduce water usage. Chooks roam freely, there are ponds for frogs, an outdoor shower and a shady basketball court. A must see for all age groups.
10:00 AM to 4:00 PMThis garden spills out on to the nature strip and the adjacent park with massed plantings of flowering and foliage shrubs, perennials and ground covers. Under the elevated house, shade-loving plants – ferns, begonias, spathiphyllums and many more – thrive in beds and baskets, and provide a tropical view for the owners’ very special cats in their comfortable cages.
10:00 AM to 4:00 PMThis garden’s owner has created a very personal outlook over the past eight years. She discovered recycling and made many garden items from bits she was given, found or discovered at the tip shop. Thanks to the internet she learnt how to build, fix, repair and create. Today her garden is home to an inspired collection of plants, stands and containers – and there’ll always be room for more!
