Opening your garden with Open Gardens NT
Open Gardens NT actively seeks interested garden owners to share their inspiring gardens with the public. Opening your garden provides inspiration, motivation and learning for visitors, young and old, and can be a wonderful experience for you as the garden owners. It is also a great way to support your chosen charity or community group raise money and increase their profile.
The aim is to select a wide variety of gardens to cater to a range of audiences and specialised interests. Selected gardens may vary in size from small courtyard gardens to large rural properties. As there is a lot of interest in hosting an Open Garden the selection committee uses a set of criteria which includes design, style, plant material, sustainability, historical interest, location and community involvement.
We’ll talk you through what is involved in opening your garden and arrange a time to visit. We will discuss how you can fundraise for your chosen charity/community group and how they can in return support your opening. If your garden is selected, Open Gardens NT committee will guide you through the process. Please download and read our Garden Owners’ Handbook for further details of what is involved in opening your garden.
Open Gardens NT have gained sponsorship from a number of local garden and landscaping businesses, see below, who have generously offered a 10% discount to our garden hosts who are opening in the current season (there may be different sponsors in following years). We also give a season double pass to each of the Garden Hosts as a way of saying thank you for their efforts of opening their garden.
If you are interested in opening your garden or would just like to discuss the possibility for the future, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. At this stage we are looking for gardens for the 2021 season and beyond, having already received and overwhelming number of interested garden owners for the 2020 season.
