Pattos’ Place is a 30 year old garden that has been transformed from your typical rural block into a series of established small gardens. While retaining some original natives and palms, it now includes bromeliads, orchids, cactus, frangipanis, hibiscus, desert roses and fruit trees. Every path leads somewhere different – wander through open areas, eye-catching rockeries, fish ponds, pathways and arches dotted with statues. After years of battling spear grass, weeds, white ants, cyclones and bush kids it is still a work in progress!
But that’s not all, take in a talk or workshop with a huge variety on offer – COOLmob are holding a beeswax wrap demo, Gamba Grassroots will be talking weeds, Living Water Smart (Power and Water) will be there with information on water audits, Tim Moore from Territory Native Plants, talking about and selling Territory native plants, Andrew Critchley from Instinct Pest Management, to show you ways to deter Top End garden pests.
The open is raising funds to support, is the Environment Centre NT (ECNT).
$7.00 entry for adults and as usual children under 18 are free and remember Open Gardens now has EFTPOS.
